In this second post on the #JournalbyM series, I'm sharing with you my current obsessions from November. If you missed the introduction to the series, read the first Journal by M post.

Bullet Journaling

I have been bullet journaling since mid-2016, and my style has definitely evolved through time as I find the best way to make the BuJo works for me. I have never really been consistent with it; if anything, I have "bursts" of mood to bullet journal. It is not uncommon for me to leave it for months at a time where I feel I don't have much to do.

Lately I've been having one of my "burst", taking a further interest in how I can incorporate more of my life into my bullet journal. I have tried two new things to put into my bullet journal, taking many inspirations from Pinterest

First I learned how to do basic calligraphy by mimicking the ones I see on the basic calligraphy alphabet. And though mine is definitely nowhere as fancy or fluid as the experts are, I love it. The second one was having a habit tracker page. I have never even considered doing this before, but as I'm trying to do things more consistently, like meditating and Instagramming, I decided to give it a go. Obviously I failed at the meditation part (see picture above), but all in all it was a good way for me to keep myself accountable for the things I needed to do on the regular basis.

I think the next step is to buy a brush pen to see how my calligraphy can be even more stepped up and to try out new layouts.

Campus Loefflerstraße

As a biochemistry major, my institute's building is in the "new" university complex smack in the middle of the city, along with the campus main library and the university hospital. However, since I'm taking english classes this semester, the classes are held in the renovated "old" Campus Loefflerstraße over in the old city centre, the so-called Innenstadt. The Loefflerstraße campus encompasses a part of the medicine buildings, a new Mensa, a newly built Hörsaalgebäude, and now the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, where my english classes are held.

Since I don't live in the Innenstadt, this meant a longer way for me to go to classes, and in winter, biking became much of a hassle. But it does provide me with an opportunity to go shopping in the drugstores or the asian store in between my classes.

However, I think the best part of the campus is how beautiful it is. The exterior is still that of the Backsteingothik, a signature architectural style of the Hanseatic cities, but the interior has been completely renovated and brought up to modern standard. My normal biochemistry classes doesn't even have a fancy touchscreen interactive beamer! I'm also completely in love with the small library (Bereichsbibliothek) in the campus, with its floating paper installation. I think it's a lot more charming than the big main campus library.

Ovomaltine

Ever since I got a free jar of Ovomaltine in my winter Uni-Tüte, I became obsessed with it. I have certainly been acquainted to it for years, but now I barely take a look at other spreads that I have to pair with my trusty bread (sorry, Nutella). Of course it is not the healthiest of options to have as breakfast or snack, but hey, I like it.

Fantastic Beasts : The Crimes of Grindelwald

I was so excited to see the second instalment of the new Fantastic Beasts franchise, so once the ticket pre-sale for the showing in original voice was available in my nearest theatre, I booked it.

But first let's talk about how expensive it is to see a movie in Germany; for a student like me, it really is a luxury. To make matters worse, I absolutely refuse to watch movies that are German-dubbed, the way movies normally are in Germany. Oddly enough, this meant that it's more expensive to watch a movie in its original language. In a small town like Greifswald, there is usually only one time slot (and therefore one movie) a week that can be viewed in its original language, and when available, it will preview the 3D version. Taken together, and the fact that I wanted to watch the movie on its opening weekend - which meant that buying the pre-sale ticket is unavoidable - I ended up with a high price tag of €15,4 to my ticket (and please don't get me started on the absurdly high price for a bucket of popcorn!).
